We used 2" X 6" Douglas Fir 8' boards to replace the rafters in the cool down shed. A 2' plywood template was styled and cut to secure boards meeting at the peak, with screws.
Our roof here has a 2" over 12" pitch, so we will use Ideal Roofing's pocket rib metal sheets with "High Temp Titanium Synthetic Roofing Underlayment" over the 4-ply plywood sheets. The cost will be about $1,000 with a life of over 40 yrs. while a rolled asphalt roof for low pitches would be about $1200 with a life of 12 yrs. or more.
