Preferred Exterior Paint

We have finished painting two sides (also half the back) of the garage barn and extremely pleased with our newer Benjamin Moore paints used. All three paints covered in one good coat while the important siding finish paint was water clean-up with a resilient acrylic base. We used:

Primer: Benjamin Moore's "Fresh Start" Oil Base Exterior Primer

Siding finish: Benjamin Moore's "MOORGARD" Low Luster Acrylic Exterior Paint

Trim finish: Benjamin Moore's "Super Spec" Oil Base Low Luster Exterior Paint

Before...

Sunday mornings I try to burn removed or rotted wood from repairs. Lovely.

Creating A Comfy Chair

Lately I have been looking for an older armchair with good bones to reupholster in a heavy white denim fabric. This green vintage chair was a lucky find in great shape, a smaller scale, close by and cost $50. The English roll arm (covered) will be double welted and the detached cushions are super. A new down cushion will be made for the seat to match the back cushion.

Right is "Serena & Lily's" Elm chair and their Miramar is much like the first chair I found.

I've also found a nice size antique English foot stool and another small Victorian armchair to cover in a heavy cotton navy stripe and white denim as well. A 9" cotton bullion fringe will finish it's bottom and the bigger chair will have a box skirt. Natural Cotton Diamond Double Knot; "Fringe Market".

Repairing A Barn

This 1700's barn is getting much needed repairs before painting. The corner behind a lovely newer stone wall had serious water damage and  clapboards are now replaced while bottom boards on the opposite side are also new.

Roxul insulation with Tyvek over, was added to the walls besides new pine and cedar siding. Corner trim was made thicker to secure board ends with a nail gun behind the stone. Both front corners had post work, new siding and redirected gutters.

Abstract Art

My recent visit to Old Farm was more relaxing. I had time to appreciate this lovely vintage abstract oil painting you can see even from the kitchen; reflected in an old mirror.

Bridal Veil Hydrangeas

My "Bridal Veil" hydrangeas were spectacular this summer and so appropriate because of our wedding. They spilled out into the entrance circular drive and lower lawn with their large, cascading panicles.

Congratulations Alex and Nina! (Photograph by Alex Paul Photography.)

White Houses Of Hopewell

Our Borough of Hopewell's main street is beautiful with many old clapboard farmhouses painted white. The oldest (just above) housed the beginnings of "Brown University", and I am sharing two recently painted nearby.  The first is painted Benjamin Moore's "White Dove", the color of our tractor barn and all barn trim. The "Tricorn Black" muntins on the second are striking and a new antique store looks lovely in white.

Mom 1928 - 2021

Mom and her sister passed away very close to each other and within a year. It was a blessing. Hvil i fred (Norwegian for "Rest in Peace"). Summer in Griggstown, NJ.
