We have removed, disassembled and discarded fifty yr. old cabinets before starting repair work in this kitchen. Some sheetrock and subflooring has been replaced and the wiring will need updating along with lighting. Kitchens are challenging and water damage is unfortunate. White oak flooring goes in this week and new cabinets come before Christmas.
I have found four "Lizz Chairs" by Kartell, in gloss white modern for Leif's MCM dining and sunroom perhaps. They are made in Italy, obviously fit in anywhere and are stackable. These came out of an office setting and look never used!
Leif's MCM house sits on 3 1/2 acres of beautiful trees bordered by a lovely, tall old rock wall and the Stony Brook. Most was hidden by overgrowth and a fallen horse barn (with contents) which needed to be removed. Christian brought his Turf Tiger and trailer here with our wood chipper on it. We are filling a dumpster, but recycling all metal and burning the wood. Whew!

Leif is adding a famous MCM "Acorn Deck House" to our family of two restored farmhouses in Hopewell. Deck houses were the original Mid-Century Modern homes built after WWII as a green, sustainable, prefab option making use of post war materials (starting in 1947). Customized, this one has four bedrooms; two bathrooms, 2221 sq. ft., and is built on 3.5 acres; between our two farmhouses. With expansive glass, vaulted ceilings, two wood burning stoves and a copper screened porch, it makes the most of surrounding landscapes and protected fields. Lucky Leif.
We trained into Tribeca this week to see the exhibit "Painting in the Dark" (featuring Toshiko Takaezu prominent pieces), meeting Alex & Nina who now live in DUMBO. The James Cohan show features a painterly approach in the ceramic medium.
Alex & Nina celebrated their first anniversary this month, and Bill brought the frozen top of their wedding cake up to Old Farm for them to have. Congrats! (photos by Alex Paul)
