A Front Porch Light

 

Leif choose a "Flos" light for his front porch, which has a warm LED bulb to give a nice welcome. The large scale front door is solid handcarved mahogany and a signature of modern "Deck Houses". The porch was lacking a light before...

An Antique Swedish Cupbard

My favorite furniture is antique and Scandinavian. It is usually a light Baltic Pine wood and sometimes painted Gustavian White or white. I especially love such cupboards to store clothes, china, blankets etc. or books. Leif's modern living room now has a tall antique Swedish cupboard, which breaks down to six parts for easy moving. It's patina brings out warmth in the wood ceiling boards while I adore it's design. With dust allergies in our family, I have used European cupboards in most of our rooms and avoided open shelving (and lots of dusting)!

Yard Work

 

The second lot is now cleared enough for a fire pit, hammock grove, and very distant fern beds of two varieties before woods and path to the tall & dark stone wall. New grass has come up around the giant Oak and corral posts add definition with many earlier blossoming trees.

AG Tree Service at 609 917 4022 came to remove a towering six trunk old Pine and (front yard) Elm for us with remarkable speed, effort, equipment and pricing! 

Stovers came next day to expertly replace the well pipe, pump and wiring.

We even painted the well cap which is a classic.

Finishing The Kitchen

Leif's modern kitchen is finished. We made some design decisions along the way since most everything is new. Bill's ceramic stool is now a focal point and such a piece of art...

Large Tile Table

Bill has finished a large tile table top for the Summer Open House on June 17th at the Takaezu Studio, 1177 Croton Rd., Flemington, NJ. It is 42" X 22", has mahogany wood sides and will have 19" hairpin legs (sprayed Rustoleum Satin "Heirloom White") which is coffee table height.

The AJ Wall Light

We have added an AJ Wall Light to the guest bedroom upstairs here. It completes a white corner in the room with a Frank Gehry Left Twisting Cube nearby and both can be seen just looking down the hall as you enter the house, fun. 

Arne Jacobsen designed the AJ Wall for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, the lamp was part of the total design concept created for the hotel. Several of the products created for the hotel are regarded as design icons and within the lighting industry the AJ lamps in particular have obtained world-fame.

AJ Wall has a fixture head with a distinct, asymmetrical shape, which determines the light characteristics of the fixture. The head is rotatable and can be turned 60 degrees to the sides. Integral on/off switch is located on the backplate. Can be used for accent or task illumination.

Modern Ceiling Lights

 

Alex & Nina have moved their Tom Dixon "Etched Web" ceiling light to DUMBO, Brooklyn and added another "Spring" (3' wide) in the baby's nursery. They are perfect for the spaces and tie them together with such high ceilings for both.

With vintage wood ceilings from 1972, we have installed track lighting in the kitchen with track power extending through the beams and making a turn. Leif chose a pack of 12 WAC LED 60watt track head lights and a flexible "T" connector from Amazon, to light the entire room.
