Working On Woodstoves

 

Leif's MCM house came with two large Jotul; F500 & F600 woodstoves which are in need of considerable repairs while cleaning the flues was a messy job. However, the stoves were "most efficient" in the world market and will be installed with complete flu linings & nice black "T" connectors.  Either will heat the whole house, while Leif has many large Ash trees ready to be cut and split for burning.

We are using large; custom cut pieces of Bluestone as hearth pads (which match the existing, elevated ones).

Update: Leif's first fire. This stove works, but has expensive missing/broken parts, sigh.

Our liner and "T" installation are super though.

Chipping Away

 

Clearing around a giant Walnut Tree and a WALL of overgrowth!

Bill bought a bigger second hand chipper to handle the amount of property and brush Leif has to clear. It is suddenly remarkable to view so much more land he actually owns. We have a routine of Bill chipping, Leif clearing and my burning what makes sense. Some small oaks are being saved for Christian's woods as the old Ash fall. Anders next to Leif's 5 trunk Sycamore.

Nordic Seal Floors

 We have "Duvan's Hardwood Floors, LLC" here sanding the challenging first floors in this Mid Century Modern house. They were stained white oak masking many pet stains with area rugs covering more (and ruts from DIY sanding - or the 850 lb. piano being moved without a dolly). It will take four sandings with 2 coats of Nordic Seal and 3 coats of Bona HD Hard Traffic to give the floors a lighter; more modern look with white area rugs. The example above is an Acorn Deck House painted white inside. (Leif's house is  enshrouded by trees making it very dark inside while a ceiling repair was poorly done and both justify white paint everywhere.) Duvan is simply the best & did Christian's old pine floors as well!

Leif's floors and kitchen cabinets will be the same colors as Alex's. Lovely.
