Entryways

The front entry trim is painted Sherwin William's "Alabaster" in Benjamin Moore's "MOOR GLO Soft Gloss". The siding is the same color in "MOOR GARD Low Lustre"; great paints!

The side entry has a vintage storm door painted "Wooden Shoes" in marine gloss by "Fine Paints of Europe"; glorious paint! The light is unique; bronze and milk glass.

Bill's Vacation

Bill never takes a real vacation as his developing heart balloon heads toward FDA approval after many years of research. We managed four days this year though, which included his show opening, and family visits on the way to Old Farm. Here the boys gathered to replace car brake drums and garage siding. I had a chance to plant 100 daffodil bulbs and install the teak steamer lounge chair found in NJ. It completes our vintage outdoor teak collection with such a large, rolling lawn and old plantings to enjoy. Anders is in heaven here, lawn gazing and chasing chipmunks.

Finishing Touches

The strap hinges on the original barn were full of rust removed with a dremel and 120 grit sandpaper before painting with gloss black Rustoleum. Each is a unique shape and quite elegant now. The doors were stripped, cracks cleaned and electrically sanded before painting with "Super Spec Oil Semigloss". Two doors were removed and leveled by moving the hinges while a difficult door patch was made with matching antique beadboard found in the barn!

The pergola was rolled with oil base primer "Fresh Start" and painted with "MOORGLOW Softgloss".  The double metal workshop doors were painted with "INSL-X Prime Lock" and black gloss enamel to match the hinges. Below: The old and newer galvanized gutters were sprayed twice to match the siding with the same paint.

Garden Seat Spot

The garden bed behind this barn was mostly gravel near the workshop and could not be planted. It is also a place to sit and relax, looking at the lovely outbuildings. Bill has made several twisting garden seats and I have picked one for here, as we finish painting the barn.

It just looks meant to be...
