Family Framing

Every Mother’s Day, I get to pick a favorite small project to be done. This year I asked Bill to build a frame for Leif’s small (5" X 8") boat painting he did last summer, from our beach at Old Farm. We designed a wooden frame that is stepped and simple, which I will paint two shades of gray (a Scandinavian style). Several of Leif's paintings have been framed this way, and seem to fit in anywhere. The frame is 1 1/2" deep, so this painting sits on a dresser in the foyer of Old Farm.

I have made note cards using a picture of this painting, by printing them at a color Xerox center on a nice paper stock, with documentation on the back. Two cards fit on an 8 1/2” X 11” sheet of paper and then fold to fit in a 4 1/2” X 6” envelope. I usually buy the paper and envelopes to match at a “paper by the pound” type of store.

So Sweet...

Leif made this painting of his girlfriend while they were in high school (it is still waiting for a new frame) and I think it was a sweet gesture and painting. They moved on in different directions, but Leif has allowed me to share the painting and study on my blog.
